A little ritual for big feelings.

I made this because I wanted a hands-on way to help my own kids talk about big feelings. Not a lecture, something we could actually do together. It grew into five stories, five feelings, and a small world called Somder Village. This page covers everything you need to know before you order.

What is it?

A potion kit built around five feelings a child can genuinely relate to. Not scared, but nervous; not just angry, but the kind of feeling that moves faster than words. Each feeling has its own story, its own character, its own two-step brew and a rhyming chant.

What's inside:

  • 6 standard colour tubes

  • A Calming jar (100g)- choose your scent: lavender, lemon, peppermint or eucalyptus

  • A Foaming jar (100g)- choose your colour

  • 3 topping pouches: rock salt, glitter rice flakes, tapioca pearls

  • A Papoose baby cup and salt spoon

  • A soft Strawberry Mouse companion

  • Water soluble paper with feelings printed on it

  • 5 story cards, ring-bound

  • A drawstring bag, packed in its own mailer box

Who is it for?

Children aged 4–7, brewed alongside a grown-up. This isn't a kit a child works through alone. Every card is written for the two of you to read and brew together.

Why this, and not just a toy?

Because a feeling doesn't go away because a child is told to calm down. It needs somewhere to go. Root & Bloom gives it one: settle first, then let it move. The child always does the brewing. Nothing here is done to them, or for them.

How does it work?

Every round follows the same two-step rhythm:

  1. Pick today's feeling. Five stories, five characters: Charlie, Fran, George, Beatrix, and one who doesn't need a name.

  2. Root- settle first. A pinch, a scoop, a breath, and a choice to make together.

  3. Bloom- let it grow. A word chosen from the paper, held, then dropped in to dissolve. A scoop, a colour, and the fizz.

  4. Say it together. Every round ends in its own small chant.

  5. Questions at the back you can ask when brewing the potion.

By hand, in Thornleigh, Sydney. Every kit is packed by me.
