THE BASICS

Starter experiments

New to potion making? Start here. These three recipes work with any vials from your kit.

  • Your very first potion — simple and magical

    1. Choose one vial from your kit.

    2. Pour the entire contents into your bowl.

    3. Add water slowly — a little at a time.

    4. Watch the fizz erupt and the colour bloom.

    5. Stir gently with your spoon to release even more bubbles.

    TIP: The slower you pour the water, the longer the fizz lasts. Try using a pipette or teaspoon for maximum drama.

  • Two colours collide-watch what happens

    1. Pick two different coloured vials.

      Pour the first vial into your bowl.

    2. Add a small splash of water and let it fizz.

    3. Now pour the second vial directly on top.

    4. Add more water and watch the colours swirl together.

    TRY THIS: Flamingo Spell (pink) + Poseidon's Spell (blue) makes a beautiful purple potion. What other colour combos can you discover?

  • Use all your vials-the ultimate brew

    1. Line up all your vials in the order you want to use them.

    2. Pour some of the first vial into the bowl. Add a tiny bit of water.

    3. Wait for the fizz to slow down.

    4. Add the next vial on top. Add a bit more water.

    5. Repeat with each vial — layer by layer.

    6. Stir slowly at the end and watch your rainbow potion transform.

    Challenge: Can you keep the colours separate in layers? Try pouring each vial very gently down the side of the bowl instead of directly into the centre.

Secret Potion Experiments

You’ve mastered the basics. Now try these.

  • An eruption of color

    1. Choose Phoenix Ash (orange) or Toad's Poison (green).

    2. Pour the vial into the centre of an empty bowl.

    3. Build a small mountain of powder-don't flatten it.

    4. Very slowly drip water from a height onto the peak.

    5. Watch the lava flow down the sides as the fizz erupts from the top.

    Best with: Phoenix Ash for a lava look, or Toad's Poison for a swamp eruption.

  • Gloopy, bubbly, gloriously messy

    1. Pour Toad's Poison into the bowl.

    2. Add just enough water to make a thick paste-don't flood it.

    3. Stir it slowly into a gloopy swamp.

    4. Now add Liquid Gold on top.

    5. Drip water over the gold layer and watch the swamp bubble through.

    Make it grosser: Add some grass or leaves from the garden for a proper swamp texture.

  • Deep space in a bowl

    1. Start with Wisteria Hex (purple)-pour it in and add water until it's a deep purple pool.

    2. Now very gently sprinkle Poseidon's Spell (blue) around the edges.

    3. Add tiny drops of water to the blue areas only.

    4. Finish with a pinch of Sorcerer's Dust (Enchant only) sprinkled on top for shimmer.

    5. Don't stir-let the galaxy swirl on its own.

    Enchant bonus: The shimmer from Sorcerer's Dust catches the light and makes it look like real stars.

  • Layers of warm colour magic

    1. Pour Liquid Gold (yellow) into the bowl first.

    2. Add water gently to create a golden pool.

    3. Now carefully pour Phoenix Ash (orange) down the side of the bowl.

    4. Add a tiny bit more water.

    5. Finally, add Flamingo Spell (pink) down the other side.

    6. You should see three layers — gold, orange, pink — like a sunset.
